Manufacturing is poised for what is often called the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a range of new technologies such as AI, robotics and nanotechnology expected to transform production and lead to major innovations. But other countries are at the forefront of many of these innovations, and investment by British companies is low. Will we miss out – or could a new Industrial Strategy help the UK stay near the technological frontier?
